Frizzy Hair vs. LilySilk’s Silk Beauty Set
Last year, I started a journey to get my hair into the best shape of it’s life, and what a journey it has been! I basically changed every part of my haircare routine: I stopped using heat, experimented with different products to find what truly works for my hair, started getting regular trims, and switched from plastic brushes and combs to gentler wooden alternatives.
By the end of 2025, my hair had already improved significantly, but there was still one major issue I wanted to tackle: frizz. My hair is naturally quite dry and wavy, which means it tends to become frizzy easily. I also noticed that my hair was breaking more than I would like, especially overnight due to friction while sleeping. Since I was trying to grow my hair longer and keep my ends looking full and healthy, reducing unnecessary breakage became one of my main goals.
While I was looking for a solution, I stumbled over the LilySilk Perfect Silk Beauty Set for Hair and I decided to give it a try. The set includes a silk pillowcase, a silk bonnet, and a heatless silk curling set and after using all three products for over six months, I am finally ready to share my honest thoughts on whether I think they are worth the investment.
The LilySilk Perfect Silk Beauty Set: A Quick Overview
Before I share my thoughts on each individual item, I wanted to give you a little bit of background on the set itself.
All of the products included in the set are made from 100% silk. It is available in several colours, including white, grey, pink, navy, black and taupe. I would have loved to go for white set, but I was scared that if I got a stain on the pillowcase, I wouldn’t be able to properly remove it, so in the end, I went with the taupe colour and I have not regretted it!
Like most items made from silk, the products are handwash only and they should not be tumble dried. However if you don’t want to wash them yourself, you can always take them to the dry cleaners (although hand washing them, really isn’t that difficult)
Pricewise the set costs around 69€ / 79$, which is considerably less than purchasing each item individually and such a steal for 3 items made from silk!
1. The Silk Hair Curling Set
The silk curling set was actually the product which initally caught my attention. I was previously using a very cheap heatless curler that I had purchased on Amazon and while I loved the curls it created, I have definitely found the quality of the curler lacking. So I started looking for a higher quality alternative and found this seemingly perfect one on Lilysilks Website.
When it arrived I was positively suprised by it’s quality and couldn’t wait to use it for the first time. However after the first night, I was actually not completely convinced wether it was as good as my old one. That was because the curls turned out much looser than expected and did not last very well over the course of the day.
I tried to make sense of that and came up with the hypothesis that the new curler might simply be too thick for my liking. I am going to be honest, I did consider going back to my old curler after that first night, but because I did not want to give up on it after just one try, I decided to give it a little more time – and I am very glad I did.
After about a week of use, the foam inside the silk cover compressed slightly, which made the curler a little thinner and created the perfect diameter for my hair. From that point onwards, it worked beautifully and my curls have consistently turned out amazingly!
If I compare it to my previous heatless curler, this one feels like such a major upgrade. It is a lot longer, which makes a huge difference for my very long hair. I can easily fit all of my hair around it without running out of space, which was always an issue with my old one. Just for your information: I usually use the “unicorn method” because I am a side sleeper. I did however also try the normal side method to see if it would be long enough for my hair and I am happy to report that again, I had no issues fitting all of my hair on the curler.
The quality increase is also very noticeable. The silk feels incredibly smooth compared to my previous polyester version, and the wire inside the curler runs through the entire length, helping it keep its shape properly. My old curler had a much shorter wire that did not reach the ends, which made it feel very cheap and impractical. The curling set also comes with two high quality silk scrunchies which you can use to secure the ends of your hair. I only need one of them to secure my hair in place, which means I got a free scrunchy to use. Very happy about that!
Overall, this product is absolutely amazing. While my nighttime routine hasn’t actually changed because of it, it has definitely added a very luxurious feel to my evenings. I use it almost every night and have not gone back to my old curler even once.
Heatless curls are simply the best. They made me fall in love with my hair again and quite literally changed my life. So thank you Lilysilk for creating such a lovely heatless curler. I will probably use it for the rest of my life!
2. Silk Pillowcase
The silk pillowcase was the product I was probably the most curious about because I wanted to see whether it would actually help with my frizz. I was already doing heatless curls at that point and I only meant to wear the silk bonnet while travelling, so I put all of my eggs in one basket, hoping the pillowcase would solve my frizz issues.
But why would Silk help with frizz? A very good question. Let me try to answer that!
Silk is much smoother than traditional pillowcase materials, meaning there is less friction, because your hair glides over the pillowcase instead of getting roughed up while you sleep. It also does not absorb moisture from your hair in the same way cotton can, which is why many people believe it helps maintain softer, healthier-looking hair. In additon to that it is also supposed to be good for your skin because it is smoother, antibacterial and less absorbend, which would be a nice added benefit.
Well that sounds great and all but the question is, does it actually work?
The first thing I noticed when I initally started sleeping on silk was that I did wake up with less frizz. Unfortunately for me, the effect does not last throughout the entire day (due to outer circumstances like the weather for example), but the difference in the morning is definitely noticeable.
I have to admit, I was a tiny bit disappointed at first because, somehow, I thought all of my frizz was going to magically disappear overnight. So, it actually took me a few weeks to notice what I think is an even bigger benefit: I realised that my hair wasn’t breaking off nearly as much during the night. Previously I would find a lot of broken off pieces on my bedding but since using the silk pillowcase, breakage has gone down by 90% which is a huge win for me since one of my goals was to grow my hair long and healthy!
For anyone interested in the scincare benefits, I have not seen a dramatic change in my skin texture. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I really haven’t seen much of a difference. Though I do have to say, the pillowcase feels incredibly soft and cooling on my skin, which makes sleeping on it feel very luxurious.
One thing I was unsure about when I bought the set was the fastening of the pillowcase. It has an envelope closure rather than a zipper and I was worried that it might slip out during the night but thank god the flap is large enough to keep everything nicely secured in place. Also considering that silk is such a delicate material, I actually think avoiding a zipper is a good choice to ensure that the case will last you a long, long while so I don’t actually mind it.
One small downside of sleeping on silk (which I did not see coming) is the noise silk makes when it moves. It is a bit difficult to describe, but it makes a crunshing sound, almost like walking on fresh snow. Since I am quite sensitive to sounds, this is really unfortunate but in the end I always manage to find a position, where it doesn’t make any noise. It simply takes a little bit of extra time.
When it comes to caring for your silk, it’s not as hard as one might think. I usually give it a wash every two weeks using warm water, a small amount of silk detergent, and very gentle movements. It is definitely more effort than throwing a normal pillowcase into the washing machine, but honestly it’s not that big of a deal. Make sure to not wring your pillowcase (to much friction) and don’t let it dry in direct sunlight (would become more brittle over time) and you should be good to go. (Here is a link to a video showing you how I do it)
To sum it all up, while the pillowcase hasn’t completely transformed my hair, I have noticed less frizz when I wake up in the morning, and the reduction in breakage has been a huge benefit for me. I genuinely feel like it has helped me grow my hair longer and healthier, and for that reason alone, I’ll definitely continue using it in the future.
3. Silk Bonnet
The biggest surprise of the entire set was definitely the silk bonnet.
Originally, I thought I would only wear it while travelling, when I did not have access to my silk pillowcase. However, it quickly became a item I wear every single night without fail.
There are a few reasons why I love it so much, so let me share them with you.
Firstly, it keeps my heatless curler securely in place throughout the night. Without the bonnet, my hair can sometimes come loose while I’m sleeping, which can result in my curls looking less even and defined. With the bonnet, everything stays securely in place, and my curls look much more consistent in the morning.
Reason Number two: it helps keep me cool during the night. My hair is very long and honestly acts like a heating blanket when it is left loose while sleeping. During warm summer nights, having all of my hair tucked away and keeping my neck free makes a big difference and even if I am not wearing my silk curler, I will always wear my silk bonnet.
I also feel like my hair develops even less frizz when wearing the bonnet because it prevents unnecessary movement throughout the night, but again, the effect unfortunately does not last throughout the day.
Of course the bonnet also has it’s flaws. For one, it could be a bit more secure. Some nights it slips slightly off of my head if I do not tie it up tightly enough. It has an elastic section at the back as well as ribbons that can be tied, but the knot occasionally loosens. It is a small inconvenience, and it can often be fixed by retying the knot right before going to sleep, but it is something worth mentioning.
Additionally, I would love for it to have a little bit of extra room. Fitting both my hair and the silk curler underneath can be quite a tight fit, but in the end I have always managed to make it work. Still, would love if there was a bit more space.
But despite these small issues, I am still absolutely obsessed with my silk bonnet. The benefits outweigh the negatives by far, and the bonnet has become an essential part of my nighttime hair routine. I would not want to be without it even a single night and I am so very happy I gave it a try, because I will wear this for the rest of my life!
Final Thoughts: Is the LilySilk Hair Set Worth It?
Well, you can probably guess the answer to the question already but yes, for me this set is most definitely worth a purchase.
Has it magically fixed all of my frizz and hair problems? Definitely not. No single product can do that. Healthy hair is always the result of many small habits and changes working together, but I do feel like these three products have each played a significant part in helping me achieve healthier, longer hair.
While it didn’t have the desired effect of getting rid of all my frizz, it has helped reduce friction during the night, prevent unnecessary breakage, avoid heat styling, and support my goal of growing long, healthy hair.
I also think the set offers great value for money. The bundle costs around €69, whereas buying all three products separately would cost around €134 in total. So you’re essentially getting them for almost 50% off, which I think is a pretty great deal.
